Driver monitoring solution enables gesture control, personalization

Eyesight Technologies, a company focusing on Human Machine Interface (HMI) technology, has introduced a cockpit solution that combines driver attentiveness detection with gesture control.

The system identifies indications of driver fatigue and distraction and ensures the driver's alertness by triggering an alarm signal or, depending on the vehicle developer's preference, taking automatic safety measures such as increasing the distance to the vehicle in front through the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system.

In addition, the system contains a driver identification feature that enables vehicle developers to implement a high level of personalization and comfort in that it continuously optimizes the vehicle system and adapts the system's behavior to the individual driver. As soon as the driver has taken his seat, the system adjusts several settings, for instance, seat position, interior temperature, infotainment volume, preferred radio stations and music program.
